About Dr. Rinella
Anthony Rinella, MD, SC, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained spine surgeon and the founder of Illinois Spine and Scoliosis Center in Homer Glen and Woodridge, Illinois. He performs complex adult and pediatric procedures and has a special interest in the cervical spine and minimally invasive procedures.
After graduating with honors from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, Dr. Rinella went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois.
He returned to Northwestern University to complete his residency and then finished his fellowship training in adult and pediatric spinal surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Rinella is a member of the North American Spine Society, the Scoliosis Research Society, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dedicated to his profession, Dr. Rinella has published articles on adult and pediatric scoliosis, cervical and lumbar disc replacements, and other topics. He regularly presents his research to colleagues around the world.
Dr. Rinella is also the co-founder of Global Spine Outreach, a charitable organization that provides spinal surgeries to underprivileged children around the world. Each year, Dr. Rinella leads two week-long missions to Cali, Columbia, along with other spinal missions.
For his service, Dr. Rinella received the De La Salle Award from Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, for his exceptional dedication and tireless humanitarian efforts. He’s also receiving the Walter P. Blount Humanitarian Award — the highest honor awarded by the Scoliosis Research Society.
In addition to his surgical skills and humanitarian work, Dr. Rinella is well-known for treating his patients with courtesy and respect and explaining medical conditions and surgical needs in a way they understand.
